LONG LINE & MULTIDAY NMDF- 40 FISHING BOAT
DESIGNED FOR LONG LINE, BOTTOM & DROP LINE,GILL NET FISHING AND COULD BE ADOPTED FOR PURSE SEINING AND BOTTOM TRAWLING
This was the first Neil Marine boat to be designed by renowned British naval architect David Freeman.
It was also another game changer: with a range of 300 nautical miles, it could stay at see for up to three weeks. It thus became the mainstay of the Sri Lankan fishing fleet.
It also pioneered long-line tuna fishing in Sri Lanka and other export markets anxious to capitalise on this profitable business, including South Africa, India, the Seychelles, Madagascar, Mauritius and Mozambique.
